Hip Spicas
A hip spica is a large cast which starts above your hips. It has to be put on during surgery so you are fast asleep during the whole procedure. They are used when there is an injury affecting the hip or the big bone in the thigh.
The spica is left open in the middle so that toileting can still occur! It can be tricky to keep the cast dry in this area so you need to keep a close eye on the skin condition.
Knee Brace
If you’ve damaged a ligament or had an operation on your knee, then the doctors might give you a knee brace to help stabilise the joint.
Some are more basic than others, but some have a special dial set at an angle decided by your doctor. It’s important you follow your doctor’s advice about when to wear your brace, as this can vary between individual injuries.
Polyslings and basic slings
When to wear
Your doctor will have told you for how long you must wear your sling and whether you can remove it for short duration or not. If you have been given a basic sling, you are likely to be able to remove it while relaxing, elevating your arm instead on a pillow. If you have broken the bone above your elbow (the humerous), or you’re in a polysling for another reason, it is likely you have been asked to wear this continuously.
How to remove/apply polyslings

Disposing
Unfortunately, there is currently no return policy in place, and the slings we use are single-use. So please dispose of your sling when your doctor tells you it is no longer required.
Fixed Ankle Boots
Ankle boots might not be the most stylish shoe in the world but play an important role in healing your injury.
Watch this video to see how to apply the boot.
Crutches
New to crutches? They can take a while to get used to, but you’ll get the hang of them! It’s important to make sure your crutches are the right size for your height, and you can adjust them to make them shorter/longer.
When you no longer need to use crutches, you can return them to your local hospital so they can be cleaned and reused!
